Enormous tide laps at beach hut

With a high tide of 5.65m and a 15mph West North Westerly wind I was almost changing in the sea as the water lapped at the top of the wall around Brightlingsea promenade. It was quite tricky finding the steps I normally use to enter the water as these were completely submerged! A stronger wind from the east instead of the west and there would have been a real risk of another tidal surge. But fortunately when I returned from my 500m swim the water had started to recede. Just on the edge of 11.1 degrees there is a gentle lowering of the temperature, which is find provided I keep swimming as it helps the acclimatisation process.
