Ending the month with gloves (after the swim of course!)

This was my last swim in December and brought up a total of 3,250m for the month, which was 500m more than in November, which I have to admit I am pleased about. I’m not sure I am as confident that I will be reporting in a similar distance at the end of January!

After a couple of ‘interesting’ experiences relating to my hands post swim I decided to put on my gloves after the swim today to ease the recovery process. I’m still not using my Booicore changing robe as I wanted to keep that in reserve until it got cold :)

However the gloves were lovely, especially for the ride home on my bike. I think they may well be here to stay for the rest of the winter.

Another lovely moment today was receiving cash donations which were left outside my beach hut, next to my information board and information cards. It’s great that people who see me in the water are responding in this way to support the charities which I am raising money for. I also wanted to say a big thank you to anyone who stops by to say hello. I was visited by my friend Joanna today, which was delightful. If you’d like to come and see me take on this challenge in person the dates I intend to swim are shown on the website. However if you are thinking of coming along (and the current Covid restrictions allow you to do so), you can always check with me by emailing me. I keep a close eye on the weather - it’s an essential safety measure - and when the conditions are too dangerous, I won’t be going into the water.

I am still hoping for a swim in the snow, so let’s see what January brings!
