Don’t forget the nose clip!

So after breaking my own record in terms of water temperature on Monday, today I smashed it again with a swim in just 5.2 degrees. After yesterday’s embarrassing loss of concentration whilst getting changed, today I was determined to be as focused as possible on my important post swim routine. Unfortunately this didn't include putting my nose clip in place at the start so I did several strokes without it before that icy water feeling up my nose and down my throat alerted me to my folly! Fortunately the nose clip I use is on a rubber strap so I was able to tread water and simply clip it in place and continue. I had the odd sensation today of the water feeling hot when I first entered during my routine of settling my breath before I start swimming. I find that quite interesting that the mind can interpret sensations in very different ways. Thanks again to the people who stopped and put money in my box and particularly to those who applauded when I made it out of the water after I finished. It’s nice seeing people out and enjoying their lockdown exercise along the prom in this beautiful part of the Essex coastline.
