Xmas Eve Hands…

A breezy west south westerly wind of 20+ mph livened up this Xmas Eve swim. The temperature is holding at 6.8 degrees, which it has been for a few days now. A modest 500m, due to the roughness of the sea but my hands went through some fascinating colour changes on the road back to warmth.

Once more I was joined by Anne from Winterfest and my Mum who came to check on me! Alix from Winterfest also popped along to thank me for my efforts. I’m so grateful to the Winterfest crew for their amazing support. Anne also brought along some new bunting for the beach hut in beautiful Winterfest colours. I didn’t want to risk its first outing with the wind as strong as it was, but maybe I will get to put it up tomorrow for the Xmas Day swim at 10:30.

I was also delighted to be joined by more than half a dozen kite surfers this morning. When I’m not alone in the water it does mean I need to work a little harder with sighting myself and being aware of where those very fast moving boards are. As the sea was quite choppy it also meant that I wasn't as easily visible to others, so an extra vigilant swim today.
