Perfect day to nail 3000m!

I certainly didn’t set off this morning determined to reach the 3000m milestone for December. But when I reached my normal turning point at 250m the sun had made an appearance so I decided to put in the extra effort to make 750m in total which was enough to reach the monthly Arctic Polar Bear challenge target. With a water temperature of 6.2 degrees it was a little chilly as I got dressed but the air temperature and the bright but weak sun, made it a very pleasant session.

Of course reaching the milestone means just that - I’ve reached the December target. But there’s no stopping. I will keep swimming throughout December. However, knowing I have completed the mandatory requirement means I can relax and if the weather is really grim I don’t have to swim.

It was good chatting with those passing by, both before and after today’s swim. It’s always good watching people enjoying the fantastic promenade in Brightlingsea from the water.
