Achilles Last Stand

It was just me and PB, my faithful mascot today. With a temperature holding steady at 6.2 degrees I managed another 750m. The journey by cycle to the hut was accompanied by the mighty Led Zeppelin and their 1976 album, Presence. The opening track, Achilles Last Stand, was permeating my internal hearing as I headed down the steps and into the water.

I like that album. It has a heavy Jimmy Page influence as Robert Plant was recovering from a car accident at the time. Although their songwriting partnership continued despite the difficult circumstances Page’s guitars are hugely evident, with Achilles last stand having 6 overdubbed guitars in the final version.

As I paused to turn around at the halfway mark I could hear a snippet of the chorus of the the first track on side two (I’m referring to my vinyl version); “Nobody’s Fault But Mine”.
