Bright sunshine, great support!

Many thanks to all those who came along to support me today. There was quite a gathering when I started my swim and when I returned. This included my friends, Stephen, Katie and Anne who were joined by some young people, who I suspect may have been more interested in my mascot; P.B. than the mad fool in the water!

It was a delightful day with bright sunshine and a lively sea but with a strong current. I managed the standard 500m, instead of any further, despite the temperature of the water being 8.1 degrees. The 14mph west-south-westerly wind certainly made its presence felt when I got out of the water. The other reason for a slightly shorter distance today was due to a slightly tweaked muscle in my back, which has been playing up for a few days. Obviously after a short period of time the cold water numbs any discomfort, but I don’t want to over do it, especially as this swim meant I equalled the distance I swam in January of 6,750m. I am hoping February will be the longest distance in a month so far this winter, although the predictions are that the sea water temperature is going to head back down towards the 5.5 degree mark, so I’ll have to see. I do have six more planned days in February if the conditions are kind for me.
