8.3 degrees but a cold wind

Another 750m in a surprisingly warm sea this morning. However, the south-westerly wind was bracing as I got out of the water. This brought on a little ‘after-drop’ shaking and very cold feet. It was also the first time for some weeks that my hands have felt uncomfortable and painful when they warmed up.

At only 3.89m it was another low tide. I swam the seaward side of the buoys for most of the swim. Often low tides can create a strong current, particularly as the tide turns, so part of this morning’s swim was simply going slightly faster than the current that was pulling me in the opposite direction.

For the second day in a row I encountered a jellyfish. I haven’t yet stopped to determine what species of jellyfish, but suspect the classic moon jellyfish. If the water continues to get warmer, I may be able to afford to stop swimming and investigate as I am curious about jellyfish in the winter.
