A swim in the snow
Although it wasn’t planned I couldn’t resist the opportunity to swim in the snow. The tide was good, the wind was unusually from the East, which means offshore from where I swim. The result was that the 15mph wind worked against the incoming tide creating a pretty flat sea. The air temperature was -1 and the snow was falling in nice big flakes when I walked from the beach hut. The wind chill was quite acute so that when I did get into the water it actually felt like I was slipping into a lukewarm bath!
The swim itself was great and the water which was just 5.1 degrees wasn’t the coldest I have experienced this winter, despite the ‘artic’ conditions. Before I went into the water I set up Michael’s waterproof camera and created a short video of the whole experience. I will be sharing this with subscribers to my website and will also put an edited version up on the Videos page of this site.
