A beautiful swim

Although the water temperature took another nudge downwards to 7.8 degrees the combination of a much better air temperature - 12 degrees and gorgeous winter sunshine made this an almost perfect swim. The 17mph wind was heading towards my safety limit (which is around 20mph when the temperature is below 8 degrees), but this just created some lovely sized waves and lots of energy in the water. This is probably my favourite kind of conditions for winter swimming. I am so less keen when the water is flat and hasn’t even got ripples. It really does feel like I’m cutting through ice - although in fairness to some of my fellow winter swimmers who really do cut through ice - this is nothing like it really!

I also filmed the first part of a short series of “behind the scenes” footage of what it’s like doing the challenge. This has been uploaded to YouTube and will be made available to all those who sign up for my monthly newsletter. The first of which will be going out sometime this week.

Thanks for checking in on my adventure.
