Is 10,000m in February possible?

A fabulously dark sky was the backdrop of today’s 500m. Despite being around 30mph, the wind was north-north-easterly, coming off the shore, so the sea wasn’t particularly challenging. I’ve now swum a total of 8,500m in February, which is the longest distance in a month I’ve ever managed. And now I’m thinking… “only 1,500m and I will have completed 10,000m, 10k, in one month during the winter.”

I have three possible days left when I am able to swim in February. So a steady 500m on each of the next three days could see that milestone achieved. The temperature is slowly sliding downwards. It was 7.3 degrees today and I expect it to drop below 7 degrees tomorrow. So realistically I’m not likely to be able to do the longer 750m on two consecutive days, so it looks like I will need to swim on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. Let’s see if the wind and weather can be kind!
