“Here I go again”

As I arrived at the beach hut today I had the Whitesnake song, “Here I go again”, running around my head, most specifically these three lines…

“Here I go again on my own
Going down the only road I've ever known
Like a drifter, I was born to walk alone.”

The sea was very calm today and even though it was only 6.1 degrees, I felt my stroke was quite effective. So when I completed the 500m, I decided to turn back and clock up another 250m.

I’m often asked how I feel after a swim, when the water is cold. It’s a difficult thing to describe. I’ve recounted many times on these pages the effect of the “Afterdrop”, but there is also a sense of liberation, an openness, of being connected to everything. Mmmm, I was right. Reading this back, it probably makes no sense. It is hard to describe. And yet. It’s probably the main reason I keep swimming. So…. “Here I go again.”
