Something was not quite right…
The sea was very calm today with a gentle northerly breeze which created a very flat sea. It seems slightly strange to say that the sea felt (or rather tasted) much saltier than usual. Large amounts of scummy froth on the surface of a very cloudy and murky sea added to the sense that something was not quite right.
Usually, after I bike home which warms me up a bit, I take my time before jumping in the shower. However today I felt quite “grimy” and was actually quite keen to get in the shower for a decent wash.
Brightlingsea has had a beach award since 1998 when Tendring Council first applied to the Tidy Britain Group for a seaside award, under the stewardship of Director of Leisure Brian Bennett. Since then every year the water quality has been tested (during the season - which is what softies call the summer) and every year since 1998 it has passed with flying colours, holding as it does currently a Blue Flag. So it would have been interesting today to have taken a water sample just to see whether it was just my “sense” that the water was a little more “interesting” than usual or whether there was something that was not quite right.
Regardless, it won’t deter me as I close in on the completion of this challenge.
